The second of the prizes Asprima 2009 for the most improved performance of residential subsidized housing, protected by public initiative from reconstruction, was awarded to the promotion of the subsidized municipality Vallecas 16, situated on the Boulevard de la Naturaleza, the Ensanche of Vallecas. It includes 62 apartments for sale. The apartments have from two to four bedrooms with a brightly colored exterior design. This building is designed by architects Jorge Javier Camacho and Maria Eugenia Macia. Given promotion was also awarded by the Association of Promotors of Construction in Spain as “the best construction of sheltered housing in Spain 2007.

Crevillentian architects Maria Eugenia Macia Torregrosa and Jorge Javier Camacho Diez have been awarded with the National Architecture Award for their project Vallecas Edificio 16. According to the words of the jury, chaired by the Minister of Housing and Construction, Beatriz Corredor, “for its design, quality and sustainability it is the best sheltered building constructed in Spain in 2007.”

The building, according to the jury, “demonstrates the leadership of the residental innovation process through the use of materials, which are saving energy, and a preference to renewable energy”. This award became a culmination of a year plagued of successes for architects Jorge javier Camacho and Maria Eugenia Macia. In september, after presenting their project to the International Competition of Ideas, organized by the city of Madrid, in the convocation of which were submitted forty one project, they were assigned as two of three “apples” of the project of 12 blocks, 12 towers, which will host the Olympic Village in Madrid 2016. This proposal makes a strong bid for bioclimatic architecture. Sixty two sheltered dwellings (Public Housing Promotion) for SLA ( Municipal Housing and Land). This project selected by the Superior Council of Architects Colleges of Spain to participate in The Sustainable Building 2008 in Melbourne, Australia- the global conference, where were being presented the best achievements of Bioclimatic and Sustainable Architecture-.The facades of the building Vallecas 16 are an example of the use of galvanized steel for external furnish.
